Monferrato is the less-travelled half of Piedmont's wine country: the same UNESCO hills as the Langhe, fewer tourists, a castle every few kilometres, and a wine tradition — Barbera, Grignolino, Ruchè, Freisa — waiting to be discovered. It is a land made to be explored slowly, with someone who knows where to go.
Our Monferrato tour with a private driver takes you among fortresses, underground cathedrals and village osterias, with an itinerary built around what interests you: history, wine, art, food, or a bit of everything.
The Monferrato stops
Casale Monferrato
The historic capital: the Cathedral of Sant'Evasio, one of Europe's finest Baroque synagogues, and a centre of noble palazzi. In autumn, the Festa del Vino wine festival.
Moncalvo and the villages
Italy's smallest municipality by area, with its fat-ox fair, and the villages of Rosignano, Cella Monte and Ozzano with their infernot — cellars carved into the local sandstone, a UNESCO heritage.
Canelli
The Underground Cathedrals: kilometres of tunnels where Metodo Classico sparkling wine rests, also a UNESCO site.
Nizza Monferrato and the castles
The capital of Barbera, and the castles of Camino, Uviglie and Gabiano — many open to visitors, some with a cellar.

Monferrato and the Langhe together
The two areas border each other. Many guests spend one day in Barolo and one in Monferrato, or ask for a bespoke tour covering both. We also serve guests who just need a private driver in Casale Monferrato for local trips.
